One Half of U.S. workers missing in action

Ray Tapajna - tapsearcher - and economic sins

Where have all the workers gone

Virtually one half of all American workers are now unemployed or underemployed . A working poor class has replaced the middle class and nothing is being done about it. Instead, President Obama bails out the big money interests while ignoring the job crisis in the U.S.

In America, we now have dead towns, with miles of boarded up storefronts and empty factories in many of our major cities. The call for emergency food, keeps breaking records. The payroll tax acts as a flat tax on the working poor and no one talks or writes about it. A person making only $10,000 a year in a small business or working as a contractor is paying about 20 percent tax based on the payroll tax, local and state taxes.

Tariffs have been taken off products and put on workers and future generations to come being faced with the hugh bail outs deficits - Wall Street is also bailed out and stocks continue to be based on workers getting fired instead of hired.

Massive transnational corporations continue to move production and factories from one place to another for the sake of cheaper and cheaper labor. It is an endless pit to no where .

We are left with a "parasite" level of so called service jobs where workers need government assistance to survive.

I worked in several factories while going to college full time. If these jobs were available today, there would be thousands standing in line to get them including college graduates. This is the state of our real economy. The news outlets and government still ignore these dreadful conditions while national leaders meet at global summits deciding about things to come outside of any real democratic process.

Free trade also represents dirty manufacturing and long haul ocean, air, rail and truck shipping that is radically affecting the environment. The ecology is being hit hard but the ecologists leave out this part of the story.

It looks like it will take history to show how many workers were invisible with our ecology being affected. Major news sources and government knowingly hide from this reality.
