Happiness is not automatic (LINK)

Human nature calls us to happiness. Happiness is defined as a state of general well being, and it is obvious this state of well being must assume a balanced personality and well ordered character. Education has to include a development of both the body and the soul. Something seriously is missing if the soul is ignored. The lower appetites must be balanced with the soul. A certain amount of sense satisfaction is necessary for well being , but if one forgets the dual nature of man and woman to the extent of neglecting the higher intellectual power that governs choices, true happiness will never be reached.
The true, the good, the beautiful, for example are the three fundamental objects of the higher intellectual appetite nature of mankind. The natural cursiosity of man is a hunger for truth and it will be restless until truth is obtained. The will wants to choose good and the it will be restless until a certain amount of good is obtained. A certain amount of order, harmony and beauty must enlighted every happy life.
Knowing we are finite creatures, we must pursue some form of religion due to the reality of our temporary status on earth. The intellect wants all the truth there is and not just a partial taste of it. The will wants good things to choose that are identified my the intellect. Neither of these natural powers will be satisfied as long as there is more to obtain. The person who says they know all that they wish to know , or has all he or she wishes to have is a game they play in their imagination.
The only way to pursue happiness is to pursue infinite truth and infinite good. And the end can be only in God who created us from form and matter. Religion is actually the sum total of all our relationships with our Creator.
Any effort to improve your personality and character without the above being a priority will just take us on detours away from the real road to happiness. As a child we found we needed nurturing and not much changes as adults. Our Creator will always know more about us than anyone else including ourselves. It is a haunting reality of life. False philosphers deny this fact and tell us we are on our own. Some say we were born perfect and society leads us to imperfection but deep down we know how foolish this is. Happiness is about going home or going back to the source of our existence. We are wanders from another place and nothing will satisfy us until we accept this fact.
Happiness rides on this acceptance.
