Occupy Ports - Occupy COSCO empty containers
By Ray Tapajna Real World News
Occupying economic insanity
Occupy protests now include Occupy Ports. Protesters block port operations on the West Coast and in Vancouver. News papers tone down the events and report from the viewpoint of the workers who are losing working time due to the blockage. They do not tell why the protesters are blocking the ports and how many jobs were stolen away due to free trade.
In a TV news report about Occupy Ports, I noticed a COSCO truck in the background. COSCO is the giant Chinese shipping company reportedly having 600 ships in operation across the globe. They are also ready to invest in port operations everywhere in the world. They also have a large fleet of trucks moving the imported cargo from place to place. No one wants to talk about the Chinese Liberation Army connection and No talks how long haul ocean, rail and truck shipping is polluting the earth. Perhaps it is because it is about going Red rather than Green.
COSCO is owned in part by the Chinese Liberation Army.
A few years ago, I was waiting at a railroad crossing for a train to pass by and I saw a series of flat cars go by stacked with COSCO shipping containers. The railroad tracks run through the center of the city where I grew up.
This is what it looked liked....
Just imagine what would happen if this was forty years ago after the Vietnam War and after thousands of American soldiers lost their lives.
Free trade came and took away millions of jobs. President Clinton gave away our technology that took thirty years of innovations to create to China in just a few years. This story never made big headlines.
I did a story related to this recently. See...
Real World News Watch your jobs roll by - even Michael Moore leaves this out in his movie about ...watching the Chinese Liberation Army's COSCO shipping containers rolling by in your neighborhood.
I do not know what they are doing with the empty COSCO containers these days, but I know they once filled acres of land near where we live now. This gave me an idea. Why not start a new Occupy movement and convert these empty containers to homes for the homeless.
We could literally call it OCCUPY COSCO Empty Containers
Today, our newspaper had an article about a new pilot program to give
away vacant homes to refugees to fix up and live in. There are about 15,000 vacant homes in our county. No one asks what caused this and at the same time the homeless are ignored. I guess it is because they do not have a refugee status and even though many of them most likely were handy men, carpenters and things like that. There were many comments after the story was published online. Several people said they wish they could have a home to fix but they are only taxpaying Americans.
The two stories - one about Occupy Ports and the other about giving homes to refugees gave me this idea related to the empty COSCO shipping containers. Why not give the containers to the homeless or to a homeless agency to convert into shelters. You can call it literally Occupy COSCO
